Tuku still in the game

Superstar Oliver  Mtukudzi’s glory days are far from over as evidenced by the multitudes of fans that turned up at his weekend gig held at the Harare International Conference Centre. The granddad of music is still agile, loveable and most importantly his longevity in the music industry largely depends on the support from his fans  — young and old — who have been with him since he made that huge splash with Tuku Music.

Surprisingly, there wasn’t much-hype as one would expect for a gig that was dubbed “The Greatest Hits Show,” however, fans still found their way to the HICC for a musical bliss.

The colourful crowd danced and sang along to almost all the songs which had been compiled by fans on different social media.
And the play-list was somewhat spot on since the crowd was listening to their favourite songs from start to finish.

For Tuku it meant that at times it is best to give fans a chance to decide on which songs they want to listen to. Judging from the responses during and after the gig, it was easy to see why some fans wanted the show to continue.

The show was well put together and all the performing artistes among them Sister Jean, Ammara Brown, Gary Tight, Tsvete and Tariro NeGitare enjoyed themselves on stage.

Township music maestro Tanga Wekwa Sando had a great show as it was his first encounter with Tuku since last year’s disappointing gig held at his PaFio joint.

The “Wake” hitmaker also had the likes of Diana Samkange and John “Chibhodhoro” Muyambo just to ensure that everything was up to scratch.
