Twelve armed robbers blow up safe, beat up guards

TWELVE armed robbers are on the run after they allegedly attacked five security guards at a company premises and stole US$6 400.

In a statement, police said the robbery occurred on 19 April 2024 at corner Hobbs and Plymouth Road, Harare.

“The suspects stole a CCTV server and three cellphones, before blowing a Chubb safe using explosives and stealing US$ 6 400 cash,” reads the statement.

Last week, six armed robbers attacked two security guards who were on duty at the shop in Chitungwiza before stealing US$ 10 507 cash which was in a safe.

The suspects, according to police, blew up the safe using dynamites.
