TWELVE models will compete for the grand prize in the annual Miss Supranational beauty pageant at The Venue in Avondale on Sunday.
The queen will have the opportunity to represent Zimbabwe at the Miss Global in Poland.
Contest organiser, Tatenda Njanike, said she worked with Zimbabwean Hollywood make-up artist, Jacqueline Mgido.

“We are delighted to be working with Jacque. She is travelling from the United States to attend this event. She is one of the judges who will make the final selection.
“Her cosmetics brand, Vault by Jacque Mgido, is also one of the pageant’s partners,” Tatenda said. He said it was not just a beauty pageant, as it also celebrates the integration of Zimbabwean cultures. “It is a platform for empowerment and cross-cultural exchange for Zimbabwean youths through talent and art.”
In an interview with H-Metro, Mgido said it was important to support young women who show the power of femininity.

“It is important to understand that it is not just about beauty.
“This is to show that women are present in all variations of God’s creation.
“We are beautiful, but above all, beauty is born of reason and the world needs to see it.
“It depends on the team spirit.
“Imagine 12 beautiful women competing, but cheering for each other at the same time.
“It’s power,” she said.
There would be performances by Nyasha David and a runway showcase by Nandi the designer. The tournament will be judged by Samantha Tshuma, Mudiwa Hood, Tapfumanei Munenge and VD by Varaidzo.
