TWO Chipinge serial burglars were recently jailed after being found guilty of committing several counts of theft by breaking into various tuck-shops in different villages and stealing goods worth over $1 400.
The duo, Tenson Rupondo (33) of Mukumba Village and Blessing Chikowo (31) of Machowiro Village, both under Chief Mapungwana’s area pleaded guilty to separate counts of theft.
Chipinge magistrate, Mr Noah Gwatidzo presided over the cases.
The first accused, Tenson pleaded guilty to all the eight counts of theft and the second accused, Blessing pleaded guilty to two counts of theft.
Tenson was slapped with 36 months imprisonment and four months were set aside on condition that he will not commit the same offence in the next five years and Blessing was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment of which two months were suspended on condition that he will not commit a similar offence in the next five years.
During the months of June, August and September, the two broke into several tuck-shops in Mukumba, Maquabaniso and Mwandifura villages all under Chief Mapungwana and stole an assortment of goods.
They stole goods worth $1 432 and only goods worth $428.50 were recovered.
Investigations were made by police detectives led to their arrest.
