Two get bail in stand case

TWO men have been freed on $50 000 bail each in a matter they are being accused of defrauding a residential stand seeker of more than US$8 000.

Innocent Maposa, (41) and Tonderai Katsa, (38) denied the allegations when they appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.

The duo will be back in court on January 4 next year pending investigations.

Circumstances are that sometime in October this year, complainant Tinashe Musuwa was looking for a residential stand to buy and was directed to Katsa.

It is alleged that Katsa misrepresented himself as a residential stand agent to Musuwa.

Katsa then showed Musuwa a residential stand in Msasa Park measuring 920 square metres.

Katsa also purported that the stand belonged to Maposa and gave him another stand number.

The court heard that Musuwa became interested and deposited US$8 800 through an Estate Agent.

On November 11, Musuwa went to the stand in Msasa, intending to start developments, only to find developments already underway.

The duo’s luck ran out when Musuwa discovered the real owners of the two stands.

He reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the duo.

Pardon Dziva appeared for the State.
