She was yesterday not asked to plead to fraud charges when she appeared before Chegutu magistrate Mr Franklin Mukwananzi.
She was remanded out of custody to February 6 on free bail. Outlining the State’s case, prosecutor Ms Bianca Magejo alleged that on December 31 last year, officials from Ward 3 including Chaipa received inputs.
Chaipa received six bags of fertiliser.
On January 5 this year, residents from the same ward were allocated inputs at GMB Mubaira.
It is alleged that Chaipa used Plaxedes Zinyoka’s identification card and got another six bags of fertiliser, four bags of compound D, two bags of AN and two bags of maize seed valued at US$120.
The court heard that she converted the inputs to her personal use and Zinyoka did not receive anything.
Another MDC-T councillor in Domboshava Dominic Shongedza has appeared in court for stealing US$1 240 mobilised by villagers to buy farming inputs.
Shongedza (50) who has previous convictions pleaded guilty to theft of trust property. He appeared before magistrate Mr Lazarus Murendo who remanded him in custody to Friday this week for the State to get his last conviction and sentence.
Shongedza pleaded with the court to give him time to restitute the villagers. Mr Murendo dismissed the application saying the court could not trust Shongedza.
Prosecutor Ms Sikhangele Mahlamvana said villagers on December 13 last year gave Shongedza US$3 240 to buy fertiliser from Grain Marketing Board in Bindura.
Shongedza, however, failed to buy the fertiliser. He converted US$1 240 to his own use.
