POLICE in Bulawayo have arrested two men in connection with a stock theft case after a cattle carcass was found in the boot of their car.

According to Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube, Jethro Dube (40) of Cowdray Park and Itai Gwasira (36) of Pumula East were arrested on 19 October 2024.

“On October 19, 2024, at 1500 hours, the suspects were caught at Pumula East butchery when police officers noticed a suspicious white Honda Fit with a cattle carcass in the boot.

“The suspects were unable to produce a permit, leading to their arrest, while Jamison Ndlovu, the third person, escaped,” said Insp Ncube.

Insp Ncube said police recovered a substantial quantity of stolen livestock products, including four hindquarters, ribs, offal, two ox heads and eight hooves.

“We urge butchery owners to source meat from registered abattoirs and caution against buying uninspected meat,” Insp Ncube said.

He said anyone with information about the whereabouts of Ndlovu should contact ZRP Pumula at 0292-422907.
