Two police officers killed in road accident

veered off the road and overturned along Centenary Road.

The injured were rushed to Muzarabani Hospital. According to the police, two are in a serious condition, while the third one who was driving the Defender vehicle was said to be stable. The two who died on the spot were based at Centenary Police Station.

Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Memory Pamire said the accident occurred at the 29-kilometre peg along Centenary-Muzarabani highway.
“Five police officers were aboard a Defender vehicle which belongs to Muzarabani Police Station and were travelling from Shed Eters Farm in Centenary.

“They had gone to collect the remains of a man who had been found dead at the farm. The vehicle was carrying a corpse of an unidentified man, which was already decomposing. On their way back, the vehicle veered off the road and overturned, killing two police officers on the spot,” said Insp Pamire.
Insp Pamire said names of the deceased are still being withheld until their next of kin has been informed.
