TWO suspects Maxwell Moyo from New Magwegwe and Bruce Moyo from Nketa 6 in Bulawayo have been arrested for theft from a motor vehicle, which was in a yard at Nkulumane 5 last week, police have confirmed.

Maxwell is aged 44 while his accomplice is 32.

According to the Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube, on January 8 at around 2am, the complainant, a female adult aged 32 years parked her motor vehicle in the yard after securing and locking it.

“The accused persons jumped over the durawall and gained entry into the yard. They then broke the left window of the complainant’s motor vehicle, forced open the door, and stole a JVC car radio, an HTC amplifier, and a subwoofer,” he said.

“They also forced open the bonnet, stole an Exide battery, and went away unnoticed. A police report was made,” said Insp Ncube.

He said on the following day, police received a tip-off to the effect that Maxwell had the stolen property at his place of residence, and acting on that tip-off, police officers went and carried out surveillance near his place of residence and spotted him coming out of the house carrying a large green bag, going towards Magwegwe High School.

They stopped and searched him, leading to the recovery of a subwoofer, a JVC car radio, and an HTC amplifier in the bag. The accused person failed to account for the property and he was arrested.

Upon his arrest, he implicated Bruce Moyo, the owner of the property leading to his arrest at Magwegwe Terminus.

“The total value stolen is $450-00 and all was recovered.  Police would like to appreciate members of the public for supplying the vital information that led to the arrest of the accused persons.

“The good relations that exist between the police and the public in Bulawayo gives criminals no room to survive,” said Insp Ncube.

The provincial police spokesperson said the accused persons will appear in court soon.
