TWO ZAMBIAN NATIONAL TEAMS, TWO OPPONENTS, ONE DAY OF ACTION

TWO Zambian national football teams are in action, seven hours apart, and one of them is playing the Warriors in Francistown.

The main team will be taking on World Champions Argentina at the Boca Juniors’ La Bombonera Stadium in Buenos Aires.

The Warriors take on what will be a predominantly Zambia Under23 team in the final of the Mukuru 4Nations tournament in Francistown at 6pm today.

Then, seven hours later, the main Zambian team will take on Argentina in a friendly international at the stadium where Diego Maradona emerged as one of the world’s finest players.

Argentina were meant to use this widow to take on Spain in the Finalissima which pits South American champions and European champions.

But, after the cancellation of the match Argentina have hosted Mauritania and now face Zambia later in the early hours of tomorrow.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni will be testing out some alternative players against Zambia.

Youngsters like Valentín Barco, Exequiel Palacios, Nicolás Paz, Gianluca Prestianni and Franco Mastantuono will be trying to make their case for a spot in the final 26-player squad.

It will also likely be the last time Argentine superstar Lionel Messi features for the national team, so the team captain and icon is bound to get his moment to shine in front of the loving fans. – Sports Reporter/Buenos Aires Herald
