Two Zimbabwean incarcerated girls excel in chess

Zimbabwe Prisons Commission (ZPC) supports the Girl Child even behind bars.

The Girl Child is excelling through sports even when in incarceration.

Nompumelelo Vusa and Melody Ndlovu who are serving their jail terms at Khami Mlondolozi Prison in Bulawayo compete in chess games locally and internationally.

Ndlovu won gold in the Commissioner General Chess Tournament in June last year for inmates at Khami Maximum Prison which involved community members and inmates.

In October last year a team of five inmates went to Harare for the Inter-Continental Online Championship for prisoners.

Where they were knocked out in the semi-finals.

Countries like Mongolia, England, Ukraine, Russia, Romania and Georgia also competed in the online games.
