KIEV. — A recent opinion poll has revealed that almost two-thirds of Ukrainians are disappointed with the way their country is being run by the government of president Petro Poroshenko.

According to the survey carried out by the Kiev-based Research and Branding Group between March 6 and 16, almost 60 percent of the respondents think Poroshenko is doing a bad job, while just fewer than 20 percent of Ukrainians are happy with him.

The poll, which was conducted across all regions in Ukraine, apart from the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, and surveyed a total of 1 501 Ukrainian adults, further revealed that prime minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk is even less popular, with less than a quarter of those surveyed approving of his performance.

The census also noted that only eight percent of Ukrainians believe their country is going in the right direction.

The two mainly Russian-speaking regions of Donetsk and Lugansk have been hit by deadly clashes between pro-Russia forces and the Ukrainian army since Kiev launched military operations in April last year to crush pro-Russia protests there.

In May 2014, the situation in the two flashpoint regions started to worsen as residents overwhelmingly voted for independence from Ukraine in referendums.

More than 6 000 people have died in the conflict, the UN says. Around 1,5 million people have been also forced from their homes over the past months of the turmoil. — Press TV.
