WHEN a 13-year-old girl who was on her menstrual cycle decided to visit her relatives in Entumbane suburb she never knew that she would be sexually attacked by her uncle.

The minor is doing Form One at a Bulawayo school. It is said the unsuspecting minor visited her relatives in Entumbane suburb last Friday and in the evening she remained in the kitchen washing plates and sweeping the floor.

While she was washing the plates, her uncle who was in his bedroom called her. While she was in the room, the family member who requested not to be named said her uncle grabbed her before fondling her.

“He fondled her breasts and private parts. While he was fondling her, the minor told her that she was on her menstrual cycle, despite that he continued touching her,” said the source.

He reportedly carried out the sickening attack and threatened to beat her up if she disclosed the ordeal to anyone. The minor went to sleep with a four-year-old girl in the bedroom. He later sneaked into her bedroom and reportedly sexually attacked her twice before he returned to his bedroom.

The family member said the following day other family members left for town leaving the minor and the four-year-old in the care of the alleged rapist. He allegedly called the minor girl to his bedroom and slapped her several times for staining his sheets with blood.

Later on the same day the minor left for her home where upon arrival she disclosed the ordeal to her mother. The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the man.

Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and urged community members to always check on their children.

“We would like to discourage parents and guardians from allowing their children to visit their relatives alone. It is wiser to accompany them,” he said.
