Zimbabwe is hoping to field teams in football, netball, volleyball and basketball.
National Secondary School Heads head in charge, Thompson Katanda, said they concluded their selection process last month when they held the Under-17 basketball tournament for boys and girls in Mutare which featured teams from all provinces.
Harare emerged winners of the tournament.
“We are through with the selection process and we are actually going into camp in Bulawayo at Northlea School on August 23.
“The provinces held their provincial competitions where they selected their best players before we held the inter-provincials. The other sports had their own selection process.
“We will be camping at the same place and we will be leaving on August 28 and return on September 4,” said Katanda.
Katanda said they were expecting a good show. “We used to participate in these Games but Zimbabwe had withdrawn because of the economic situation. However, athletics competed this year in the event held in Botswana.
“I think we have selected the best players but our disadvantage is that most of the trust schools did not take part in the inter-provincials. But I think we have adequate ammunition for our opponents,” said Katanda.
