Under-20 scouts come to Mutare

ZIMBABWE national Under-20 technical staff will this Sunday come to Mutare to scout for talent ahead of the 2015 COSAFA finals set for Zambia from December 3-14.

According to Eastern Region Select coach, James Muhala, all thedistricts of Manicaland will send their players to Sakubva Stadiumwith their identification documents.

“We have sent invitations to all the districts. We call forth allplayers from our province to come. The districts that have indicated their desire to participate include Chipinge, Chimanimani, Mutasa, Makoni, Mutare urban and rural, Nyanga and Buhera. We have also invited some schools though some will not be able to release their children since they will be taking on exams,” he said.

Muhala pointed out that Manicaland as a province have talent and have players who will make the required grade.

“Talent in our province is unquestionable. We have great guys and Ihave confidence that our guys will be picked up for the national

U-20. It was through this event that former Buffaloes and national team star, Liberty Chakoroma was identified. We believe that we willcontribute quite a number this time,” said Muhala.

The U-20 technical team is made up of head coach, JairosTapera, assistant coach, Mandla Mpofu, goalkeepers’ coach, Richard Tswatswa and manager, Patrick Mutesva have already started scouting around.

Last Saturday, they were at Barbourfields before proceeding to Midlands the following day.“We conducted our first trials at Barbourfields on October 17 beforemoving to Midlands the following day. We are doing this so that we carter for all the provinces.

The selected players will then go intocamp on November 8. We are not leaving any province and to the players, this is not a chance to miss and good players with the right age will be selected,” said Mandla Mpofu.
