United’s new away kit leaked

LONDON. Manchester United are set to return to more traditional colours for their new away kit, according to leaked pictures of the 2022-23 strip.

The kit – shared by Footy Headlines – is white with black and white trim, with black shorts and white socks.

The design features a pattern of red and white diamond shapes on the collar and the bottom of the sleeves, as well as the famous Adidas stripes in black and red.

It also includes a badge with a shielded crest in black, the same colour used for the Adidas logo and the TeamViewer sponsor logo.

Fans gave a largely positive response to the kit. ‘Finally we have an incredible away kit,’ one supporter said.

Another added: ‘This looks promising. Red-black-red shoulder stripes will be the perfect trim for the jersey.’

United have opted for more colourful designs for their change strips in recent seasons and have not had a white away kit since the 2015-16 campaign under Louis van Gaal.

The Red Devils lifted the FA Cup wearing white in 2016 after Jesse Lingard scored the winner in extra time in a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Wembley.

The leaked 2022-23 away kit is also a throwback to United’s third strip in the 2010-11 season, which the club wore in the Champions League final defeat to Barcelona.

Their away strip last season featured a light blue and white geometric print and blue shorts.

United are set to embark on a new era under manager Erik ten Hag, who officially began work at Old Trafford last week.

The troubled club ended last season with their lowest Premier League points tally and failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, United captain, Harry Maguire, has hit out at the yobs who delivered a terrifying bomb threat to his home.

Cheshire Police opened an investigation into the incident in April and, speaking for the first time about it, Maguire said: “Obviously I’m in a position where I’m going to be criticised.

“United paid a large sum of money for me and I totally accept criticism when we concede goals or make mistakes.

“But, there is a line where we are human beings. I do have a family. People ask if it affects me. My mentality is that it doesn’t affect me too much but when it comes to bomb threats, it is more about family.

“My wife Fern, I’m just happy my kids are at an age where they don’t read things and see things on the news.

“If my kids were older, they could see things and go to school and people are speaking about it. That is when it affects you a little bit more.

“United are one of the most loved clubs in the world and also one of the most hated in the world. We’re under the most scrutiny.” – Mailonline
