Unlicenced driver jailed 18 months

AN unlicenced driver has been jailed 18 months and ordered to pay a US$250 fine for violating the Road Traffic Act.

Chenjerai Shanga was convicted for causing an accident that resulted in the death of Clover Leaf Motors branch manager’s wife, Munashe Dombo, along the Harare- Mutare road in October last year.

The accident also left five other passengers injured.

Shanga was fined US$100 for driving without a licence, US$100 for failing to stop at the accident scene and US$50 for failing to report the accident within 24 hours.
