A 23-YEAR-OLD unlicensed driver was on Saturday afternoon killed in a car crash after the Subaru he was driving veered off the road and hit a tree in Mutare’s Central Business District injuring two pedestrians and one passenger.

Farai Chikwanha, popularly known as Golago, died upon admission at Mutare Provincial Hospital.

As fate would have it, Chenai, the mother of Gino Masimire, a passenger who survived in the tragic accident with minor injuries, died the same day, possibly because of shock after an unknown person, in panic mode, reportedly called and alerted her about the accident.

She was on Monday laid to rest at Yeovil Cemetery.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa said the car belonged to Tawanda Bepe of 65 Area 12 in Dangamvura. He suspects that Golago was speeding.
