MIGHTY Warriors’ coach Shadreck Mlauzi says he has never driven a car and the only thing with wheels that he has ever steered is a bicycle.The unassuming secondary school Physical Education teacher revealed this yesterday when he visited Zifa vice-president Omega Sibanda to show him his new Toyota Hilux Double Cab that was presented to him by the association’s principal sponsor, Wicknell Chivayo.
Mlauzi was accompanied by Zimbabwe Women’s Football acting boss Elizabeth Langa, Mighty Warriors’ manager Charity Munemo, captain Felistas
Muzongondi and Zifa Southern Region chairman, Musa Mandaza.
Sibanda congratulated the shy, slim built mentor and urged him to do the nation proud at the upcoming Olympic Games in the vibrant Brazilian seaside city of Rio de Janeiro in August.
In a brief interview, Mlauzi said he has never acquired a drivers’ licence, but was hoping to get one within a month. For now, he is being driven around by a friend.
“The only thing that I ever rode is a bicycle. I have never driven a car before,” said Mlauzi. He said once he enrolled for driving lessons, he was sure of getting the certificate of competence within a month “as I’m a very fast learner”.
Mlauzi received his vehicle in Harare on Monday, a few weeks after Warriors’ coach Callisto Pasuwa received a Toyota D4D truck from Chivayo.
It, however, remains unclear who exactly owns the two vehicles, but Mlauzi indicated that it was his for keeps.
