WATCH: Urgent Help Needed for 12 Year Old Girl Fibromyalgia Care

My name is Ropafadzo Gladyn Moyo 12 years old. I am suppose to be in grade 7 writing my Exams this year.

Sadly it has been a year and 3months since I was last in school.

I have a chronic condition that is affecting all my joints and muscles, It has impacted my daily life greatly.

I am constantly in pain suffering from severe migraine headaches, nose bleeds ,sores in my mouth, painful ears ,skin rashes ,difficulty in breathing. My body is constantly aching , especially in my , ankles ,knees ,wrists,

spinal cord ,shoulders, I also suffer ,several allergies .

I have been to several doctors and they are unable to diagnose me they say it may be Fibromylgia but from other Tele-consultations I have been told I need further advanced tests which are not available locally in my country,to rule out any underlying conditions.

I have been on several different medications but there has been no change to my condition especially the migraines and weakness even if I sleep the pain and fatigue do not go away.

I loved to dance ,play and explore with my friends, I miss my school and friends and I dream to be a doctor one day , but now I am mostly confined to my bed as any strenuous movements results in so much pain and inflammation including heart palpitations ,sharp chest pains ,my bones ache and shiver at times I have seizures and have to crawl on my knees as my ankles are not able to bear the pain.

My mom is a widow and my primary care giver ,she has had to leave work to look after me . I have 3 other siblings we’re struggling to meet the financial constraints on the out of pocket medical expenses .

We have incurred a lot of debts of $1800USD from the several tests such as the X rays ,Blood tests MRI scans CT Scans .Currently I am on Tramadol and Gabapentine after many other several medications but it is not helping me in any way.

The Challenge:

My current condition is complex and requires specialized care. We need further investigations that will determine my condition Unfortunately, so far we have faced significant barriers:

– Limited access to specialist care locally

– Financial constraints from high cost of several tests medications and hospitalisations

– Stigma as there is no awareness of such conditions
