The money, which was handed over to the RCZ last week, would be used for water and sanitation, disaster management and health care among others.
Officially handing over the fund to RCZ, Clinic manager for RCSI, Mr Amin Hamidzadeh, said Iran remained committed to providing assistance to RCZ.
“This is only the beginning, we are looking forward to doing more in the near future. According to International RedCross Zimbabwe Strategy, we are supposed to assist RedCross Zimbabwe alleviate all its problems.
“We want to assure you that you do not operate in isolation but there are many organisations out there willing to support you,” he said.
Former Health and Child Welfare Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa said Iran was investing in Zimbabwe and the money would help the organisation cover its errands.
“This donation is of paramount importance since RedCross Zimbabwe needed the assistance immensely.
“There is tremendous goodwill to Zimbabwe in Iran and we hope our relations will remain cordial,” he said
RedCross Zimbabwe is the country’s leading humanitarian actor, which offers services that include the Integrated Community based HIV and Aids Programme, Water and Sanitation, Food Security Levels, among others.
