WHAT would you do if your friend called you crying, begging for US$5 000 to avoid public humiliation?
That’s exactly what social media queen Madam Boss, real name Tyra Chikocho, did. Only it was all fake. But the reactions she GOT were very real.

While living it up in Los Angeles after rubbing shoulders with A-listers at the BET Awards, Madam Boss decided to prank her inner circle with a sob story. She claimed a lender named Ruvimbo from Zimbabwe was threatening to expose her on social media for defaulting on a shady loan unless she paid back US$5 000 immediately.

“I’ve just been paying interest and now she wants it all. She’s threatening to take my car and post everything online,” wailed Madam Boss during the calls.

First on the list was business tycoon Zodwa Mkandla, who didn’t hold back.
“Why are you borrowing money again? I always tell you to live within your means,” Zodwa snapped. But despite the scolding, she offered to pay. “Give me her number. I’ll sort it out. But I want my money back!”

Cosmetics boss Mai Juju and TikTok star Mama Vee also stepped up to help with concern, caution and cash offers.
Even hubby Ngonidzashe Munetsiwa got caught in the web. He was ready to bail her out but fumed, “Next time tell me first. We handle things together.”

The prank, later posted on TikTok, sparked a frenzy online. Some praised the loyalty, others slammed the stunt.
Nyarie @kvm commented, “You have friends who have your back — they really stand by you.”
Sharon Muswapi took a life lesson from it all. “Live within your means is the best advice for me.”

Shady added sentiment. “If you see yourself losing all these people, just know it’s the end of you, besides money, but the love they have for you. I hope you love them too.”

Missomie joked, “I looked at my contact list and sighed, aaahh haaaya.”
Adivanah 07 simply wrote, “I need friends like these, please God.”

In the end, what started as a joke turned into a powerful reminder. When the storm hits, even a fake one, it’s your people that count.

Madam Boss proved she’s not just an influencer with clout but one with a crew that’s solid to the core.
