WINKY D and Blessing Shumba walked away US$4500 richer each today as part of their cash prizes for topping Coca-Cola chart shows on radio and television.

Winky was the king of television as his videos “Rugare” and “My Woman” were in position one and two respectively on the ZBC-TV chart show. Shumba, who has been a dominant force on the Radio Zimbabwe charts in recent years also bagged US$4500 as his tracks “Changa Chajaira” and “Tariro Ichiripo” occupied position one and two respectively. Cumulatively Shumba’s songs amassed 278 585 votes.

Sniper Storm with his “Tsvigiri Muhuchi” video and upcoming gospel musician John Munodawafa with hit track “Ndidzivirei” played second fiddle to Winky D and Shumba respectively. They each walked away with US$1500.

Radio Zimbabwe votes hit an all-time high as 1,2 million people voted in last year’s edition.

It was also all smiles for radio listeners and viewers of ZTV who managed to predict the songs that topped the charts on both platforms as they too were given some cool prizes.

Some of the listeners and viewers walked away with LED screens, cell phones and Coca-Cola hampers among many other goodies.

“These music shows are some of the ways by which Coca-Cola ploughs back into the Zimbabwean community by helping our artistes. We have since broadened our music initiatives to include Unplugged and Coke Studio Africa to increase opportunities for our hardworking artistes,” said Coca-Cola senior brand manager, Vee Chibanda.

“I would like to congratulate all the musicians, listeners and viewers who won. This year’s competition was very tough. To those who did not make it in 2017, do not lose hope. There is always another chance.”
