UZ Wolves, Black Mambas dominate MNL Zim Open 2025 tourney

UZ Wolves (men) and Black Mambas (women) were the toast of the jest ended MNL Zim Open 2025 volleyball competition played at Mutare Girls High over the Easter holiday.

Black Mambas edged Raven Claw 3-2 to land the pole position in a tightly contested finals encounter, while Harare City beat army outfit Black Rhinos 2-0 in the third and fourth place playoff, respectively.

In the men’s category, UZ Wolves outplayed Black Rhinos 2-0 to win the competition.

Zimbabwe Volleyball Association secretary-general, Priestledge Nhamburo heartily thanked the participants for their dedication towards the success of the tournament.

“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the teams and officials that participated in the MNL Zim Open 2025 Tournament. Your dedication and sportsmanship made this event a memorable experience for everyone involved.

“Despite the setback on the opening day due to rains, we collectively managed to make the tournament a success. Your resilience and teamwork were truly inspiring!

“Congratulations to the UZ Wolves (men) and the Black Mambas (women) for being crowned champions! Your hard work and determination truly shone throughout the tournament,” he said.

Nhamburo also made special mention to Mozambican teams, individuals as well as corporate partners that participated at the annual event.

“We also appreciate the presence and participation of our neighbours, Mozambique teams, which added to the richness of the competition.

We extend our gratitude to those who partnered with us MNL, Call Centre Technologie, Mapondera and Company, Jemcon Consultancy, Alphah Designs, Sportland, Shakubi, Fadza Mweni, Nyaradzo, Wisepon Construction. We honour and salute your belief in us,” said Nhamburo.
