FOOD security is among the top agendas worldwide. Despite geographical location, countries are faced with growing concerns over food shortage hence a revolution in agriculture is essential in making farms more productive than ever before.

Zimbabwe is not only self-sufficient in virtually all major agricultural products, but it is a net food exporter. In light of that, as a way of making sure that consumers have access to fresh and healthy food products in Zimbabwe, Valley Visions — a newly-established company has proven to be the best supplier of various agricultural products.

Valley Visions is an agro-business that focuses on supplying horticultural produce as well as meat namely pork, chicken, beef, fish and others. They offer nationwide deliveries.

As a way of driving and fulfilling their vision which is to become the nationally preferred supplier of fresh farm produce, Value Visions has opened a new wholesale market in Bulawayo situated along Josiah Tongogara Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenue.

The branch supplies fruits including bananas, oranges, apples, pears, kiwi fruit, watermelons, sweet melons, grapes, plums and strawberries, depending on the season. Also on supply are potatoes, chomolia, white maize, red onions, white onions, tomatoes, wheat, eggs for bulk supply, green meals, cabbage, king onions, and butternut. All these products are sourced fresh from their farms in Umguza, Montgomery, and Nyamandlovu, ensuring that the products arrive at the wholesale market-fresh.

Letmore Nyagura, who is the Sales and Marketing Manager at Valley Visions said their aim is to offer excellent service in each of their professional disciplines, in accordance with statutory practices, codes of conduct and integrity, developing the best team and delivering the best quality product to their clients.

“Since we opened our branch here in Bulawayo we have been receiving tremendous support from our clients who prefer to consume and buy for resale fresh and hygienic food. When we came up with the concept of opening this branch we wanted to solve other problems we had with different suppliers we traded with before. Some of them short-changed us and we then decided to establish our own wholesale market where accountability would be ensured.

“We produce everything we supply on our farms which are located in Bulawayo to ensure freshness. This branch does not only supply the city, we also supply other cities like Gwanda, Gweru, Beitbridge, Lupane, Hwange as well as Victoria Falls. We are a trusted brand which is also affiliated with giant brands nationwide. We supply and distribute our products at various chain stores including Pick’n Pay, OK, and Spar, Greens as well as other independent stores.

“We provide different hotels like Holiday Inn, Rainbow, Cresta and Sterling hotel with fresh products. We also trade with schools like Falcon College, Plumtree High, to mention a few,” said Nyagura.

Valley Visions’ consistency in the market is visible as in a day, they manage to sell 500 crates of tomatoes and 3 000 heads of cabbages, giving the consumers assurance on their trusted products.

As a way of giving other small farmers a marketplace to sell their products, the company has collaborated with local small commercial farmers who often supply them with their well-grown foods.

“We have a good track record of assisting small farmers as we allow them to sell their produce on our wholesale market, that is if we are out of various products. We also enjoy good relations with consumer related organisations like the Bulawayo Vendors Association.

“Once in a while, we invite them to tour our farms and the market so that they can appreciate how we grow our crops and fruits, how we harvest them and transport them to the market where they will be neatly packed and served fresh to our customers,” said Nyagura.

Despite being the new kid on the block, Valley Visions announced themselves with a bang on the Agro-business sector as they have managed to clinch a number of accolades. They won the Bronze award for First Time Exhibitors at the 2024 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), where they had the pleasure of hosting the First Lady Amai Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa.

The CEO, George Moses Kudya, won the Zimbabwe Institute of Management Southern Region Business Man of the Year award. He also received the Zimbabwe National Chambers of Commerce (ZNCC) Southern Region Businessman of the Year award in 2023. They are nominated at this year’s ZNCC national awards to be held in Victoria Falls.
