A Lupane State University student has been arrested after she was caught in a shop shoving a panty and a skirt into her underwear.
Charity Ndlovu (29) never knew that she was captured on camera as she took a panty and a black skirt and went to the dressing room, a court heard. Meanwhile security personnel were watching all the action on camera.
It is stated that when she got inside the dressing room she shoved the skirt and the underwear in her panty. The court also heard that when Ndlovu left the dressing room — a security guard called her but she turned a deaf ear to him.
She made a dash for the exit and was unaware that another security guard was already waiting for her at the exit point.
The security guard grabbed her, and as per what the court heard — she did not scream and was led to the guard room where she was ordered to return the two items.
She reportedly complied.
It is said after that she was set free: “She pleaded with the security personnel to let her free saying poverty pushed her into stealing. As a result they forgave her and freed her.
She ran out of luck when she went to Edgars and took a pair of shoes and stashed them into her hand bag. She headed to the door and was caught at the exit when the alarm rang.
A security guard handcuffed her and took her to Bulawayo Central Police Station.
She appeared in court on Tuesday before magistrate Lizwe Jamela facing a theft charge. She pleaded guilty and she was remanded out of custody to next week on Tuesday for sentencing.
