A BULAWAYO man has appeared in court for allegedly assaulting and robbing a vendor for refusing to assist in offloading luggage belonging to another passenger after they disembarked from a kombi.

Brian Ngoma (20) of Entumbane suburb allegedly teamed up with an  unidentified accomplice who is still at large and attacked Mr Thulani Musengi (31) of the same suburb.

Ngoma and Mr Musengi boarded the same kombi from the Central Business District.

Mr Musengi was coming from the market.

The accused person and his accomplice allegedly robbed Mr Musengi of snacks and pampers all valued at $322.

Ngoma was not asked to plead to robbery when he appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Ms Gladmore Mushove.

He was remanded in custody to next Thursday.

Prosecuting, Mr Kenneth Shava said on January 6 this year, a misunderstanding broke out between Mr Musengi and Ngoma as they were coming from the city centre.

“The accused person ordered the complainant to carry some luggage belonging to another passenger but he refused.

“As a result, the accused person and his accomplice punched and slapped the complainant several times all over the body and took some of his vending wares,” he said.

The matter was reported to the police leading to the accused person’s arrest. @zinyuke98
