The Visionary Cadres Association of Zimbabwe (VICAZ) on Saturday held an anti-drug and substance abuse seminar in Bulawayo, bringing together representatives from the Matabeleland region to discuss strategies to curb the growing scourge affecting communities.
VICAZ National Chairperson Onwel Sisimai said the organisation remains committed to safeguarding the future of Zimbabwean youths by tackling drug abuse head on and promoting the use of rehabilitation centres.
“Drugs have no age and it is up to us as Zimbabweans to fight this pandemic and ensure a bright future for our country,” said Mr Sisimai.
As part of its intervention programmes, VICAZ has introduced several rehabilitation focused projects, including gardening initiatives meant to keep youths engaged, productive and capable of sustaining themselves ultimately reducing vulnerability to drug addiction.
The organisation also attended the National Taskforce Drug Testing Programme held yesterday at Ingutsheni Central Hospital, where officials assessed ongoing national efforts to address substance abuse.
During the seminar, participants took part in an interactive question and answer session, contributing ideas on how to expand anti-drug campaigns and strengthen youth recruitment for rehabilitation programmes.
