A self-styled prophet in Gweru and his assistant have been arrested for the alleged ritual axing of a woman, whose brain they allegedly took out.
Joanny Musiwa (24) of Mkoba 3 and Artwell Chimupetu allegedly axed the woman, only identified as Patience (37), after telling her that they wanted to pray for her.
The prophet is alleged to have performed a “spiritual cleansing” the day before the murder.
The next day, according to Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Patrick Chademana, Musiiwa visited the woman around midnight and told her that her house needed to be “cleansed”.
“The deceased was asked to come out of the house because he wanted to perform some spiritual healing,” he said. Insp Chademana said when outside, the two accused pretended to pray for her.
During the “cleansing”, Chimupetu is alleged to have drawn an axe from his flowing robes and struck the woman on the head and she died on the spot. – CR.
