Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX) appoints head of markets executive

THE Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) has appointed Mr Robert Mubayiwa as the head of the  markets segment with effect from January 3.

He will be responsible for the VFEX primary and secondary markets, which comprise of new and existing listings, product development, market data, trading and operations.

The VFEX was established in October 2020 as a foreign currency-denominated bourse and has to date attracted four giant listings that include, Seed Co International, Padenga, Caledonia and Bindura Nickel Corporation (BNC).

The growing interest in the young off-shore financial services centre is a bold indicator of the growing investor confidence on the country in response to the comprehensive reforms being implemented by the Second Republic.

“The ZSE is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Mubaiwa as the head of VFEX markets with effect from January 3, 2022,” said ZSE in a statement yesterday.

Mr Mubaiwa holds a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University in United Kingdom and is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and Public Accounts and a member of Auditors Board of Zimbabwe.

He also has over 15 years of experience in capital markets and insurance operations. Prior to the new appointment, Mr Mubaiwa was the head of trading and surveillance for the ZSE.

Meanwhile, ZSE has also announced the appointment of Mr Anymore Taruvinga as head of markets in the main bourse with Mr Tinashe Mapara as the head of depository services with effect from February 3.

“In his new role, Mr Taruvinga will be responsible for ZSE primary and secondary markets, which comprise of new and existing listings, product development, market data, trading and operations,” it said.

“Mr Mapara is responsible for overseeing the smooth settlement of ZSE trades as well as safe custody of de-materialised securities deposited with the ZSE and VTEX central securities depositories.” – @SikhulekelaniM1
