Zanu-PF candidate for Marondera Central constituency Cde Cleopas Kundiona has said victory is certain for the party in his constituency.
Cde Kundiona was addressing party supporters at a rally held at Dombotombo Business Centre in Marondera on Wednesday.
The party supporters gathered at the business centre after a full day of door-to-door campaigning in Marondera Central constituency.
Cde Kundiona commended Zanu-PF supporters for drumming up support for the party peacefully, saying their dedication will ensure a clean sweep in the constituency.
“Our campaign strategy is very effective,” he said. “I am glad that all of you here participated in this campaign and the sense of unity which I saw today gave me assurance that indeed our seat is protected.
“We do not want to give our opponents any chance of winning. We have to win in a way that they will even congratulate us. It must be a historical and resounding victory.”
Cde Kundiona urged supporters to continue preaching peace and political tolerance, saying a free and fair election would be a major step towards economic development of Zimbabwe.
He said everyone regardless of political status should heed President’s call for a non-violent election.
“We need development in our country and we cannot achieve that in a violent environment.”
Before his address, Cde Kundiona donated a wheelchair to a 37-year-old man, Tafadzwa Chinyama, who is disabled.
“We have seen the First Family helping the needy and disadvantaged,” he said. “I am emulating them.”
