UNITED STATES-based Scott Vincent says it is still a long way for him to get into the US PGA, but he will work to get there. The 23-year-old Zimbabwe golf player turned professional some two weeks ago.
He won on his debut tournament back home when he came tops in the Zambezi Tour Pro Challenge tournament at Royal Harare last weekend.
Vincent, a former St George’s and Virginia Tech student, now wants to make huge strides and play at the highest level for his career.
The Royal Harare professional will leave the country tomorrow for the United States where he will launch his career as a professional through trying to find a Web.Com Tour card by next year.
“It was good to be back home after a while and after turning professional I now look forward to work even hard to reach the highest level.
“Having completed my studies, I am now targeting the Web.Com Tour and it is obviously not easy and I will also look at other Canadian Tournaments.
“The Canadian Tour is a bit organised and we will take it into consideration as well,” said Vincent.
Vincent believes his Colligate events helped him.
“There is a lot of competition but I believe next year I will be on the tour.
“The issue of sponsorship is a bit challenging and it will be good to have locals coming on board in support,” he said.
He saw off the national junior team that left for Japan for the World Cup and he believes they have a good chance.
“The guys are fine and I believe they are going to do well. It is a great learning opportunity for them and if I were in their shoes I would just go there and enjoy the game.
“There are a lot of better players out there and it is important to learn from them; it is a good challenge,” he said.
