SCOTT Vincent will go into today’s second round of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games lying at a distant 53rd place at Kasumigaseki Country Club in Japan.

The professional golfer will tee off in the morning, which recorded favourable scores during yesterday’s round, where he finished on one-over-par.

In today’s round, the Zimbabwean will play alongside Fabrizio Zanotti of Paraguay and Juvic Pagunsan, of the Philippines, teeing off at 02:03, in the morning.

Vincent started yesterday’s round strongly but lost it, along the way, during the second nine, where he dropped three shots, within two holes. The Olympics field has seasoned campaigners like Northern Irishman, Rory MclIroy, who also had a bad day at the office, finishing tied in 20th place.

Roy Sabbatini, Garrick Higgo of South Africa, Patrick Reed and Tommy Fleetwood are some of the top players taking part.

Austria’s Sepp Straka’s three consecutive birdies, on the back nine, propelled him to an opening day lead, in the quest for gold.

The former University of Georgia golfer carded an eight-under-par 63 to pace the 60-person field.

Straka played bogey-free golf, and made 16 of 18 greens, to propel himself to the top of the leaderboard.

Straka is the son of an Austrian father and American mother.

He had his twin brother Sam, on the bag, for the opening round.

Vincent is part of the five athletes who have been representing Zimbabwe at this year’s Olympic Games.

The Zimbabwean professional had a good opening round, where he finished on two-under, but the second nine proved challenging, as he dropped three shots.
