IN-FORM amateur golfer, Vincent Chidambazina, won his second title of the year after he captured the Masvingo Amateur Championships at Masvingo Golf Club at the weekend.
Chidambazina beat Elton Zulu in a sudden death play-off after they had finished tied on level-par after the three rounds.
The Chapman Golf Club-based top amateur was in high spirits.
“I am very happy that I won my second title of the year and it was not easy. I just played my normal golf despite the pressure, which is always there.
“I am grateful to Cicada and Teza Trust who have always been there for me in my career.
“Coming from Hillside in Chimanimani has not always been easy without the two’s financial support.
“Teza Trust has always been there for me ever since I started the sport and I can’t thank them enough.
“I also thank Chapman Golf Club members who have supported me and I hope to continue working hard.
“The contest was tough but I managed to maintain my composure and win the tournament,” said Chidambazina.
Zulu is also consistent and has been doing well in local tournaments.
The tournament saw Blessing Gondo and Cosmas Siyakobo finish tied on position three after they both carded five-over-par.
Absalom Phiri was fifth on six-over-par.
The Masvingo Amateur Championship had a decent turnout as it carries national order of merit points.
The local amateurs will now shift focus to the inaugural Munhumutapa Strokeplay to be held at ZRP Golf Club on May 23 and 24.
