Visiting youths tour National Heroes Acre

challenged youths to fight for economic independence.
He said youths should fight for economic independence the same way Zimbabwe’s heroes fought for political freedom.
Mr Palmytris said youths must not relax as another form of imperialism was emerging in the name of economic oppression.
“Even if today there is no war and there is political freedom, there is need to fight economic imperialism,” he said. Mr Palmytris, who is from Cyprus, said youths must fight for their rights to honour the living and fallen heroes.
He said it was the mandate of the youths to guard jealously the gains of independence since they did not come cheaply. Zanu-PF secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Absolom Sikhosana said the tour of the national shrine revives the sad memories of the liberation struggle.
Cde Sikhosana said the sacrifices made by the country’s heroes were not something that must be easily forgotten.
“This is not just a shrine for the country’s heroes, but a holy place where a lot of sacrifices are witnessed,” said Cde Sikhosana.
The delegation took time at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and at graves of liberation icons like Vice President Dr Joshua Nkomo.
