ZIMPAPERS group chief executive, Mr Justin Mutasa has called on the electorate to vote for people who are development orientated to ensure real change in their lives.He made the remarks at a star rally to drum up support for Zanu-PF candidate for Mutasa Central, Cde Innocent Benza at DC Mutasa yesterday.
Mr Mutasa donated soccer and netball kits as well as balls to youths in wards 11 and 13. Five women who are into sewing and selling of domestic goods received US$1 000 to boost their project.
Speaking at the occasion which was also graced by Zanu-PF national secretary for women’s affairs, Cde Oppah Muchinguri, Mr Mutasa said there was no meaningful development in Mutasa Central over the past five years when MDC-T’s legislator, Mr Trevor Saruwaka was in charge.
“There was stagnant growth in Mutasa Central over the past five years, but we are happy with the work the Benza brothers, Innocent and Gerald have done over the past two weeks. Things are now moving and people should rally behind candidates like them, a reason why I decided to come in and help them with this small token for the youths and women.
“We should use sport to unite people. Even those from MDC-T should see value in joining Zanu-PF, a reason why we are here to work together with the Benza brothers who have proved to all and sundry that they have the people at heart.
“Youths were being taught to sloganeer, but the Benzas are creating employment for them. Roads are now being maintained, while clinics are now being built,” he said.
Cde Innocent Benza is vying for the Mutasa Central seat and his twin brother, Gerald is always next to him in all their projects.
Speaking at the same occasion, Cde Muchinguri said the Benza brothers were development orientated and should be supported.
“Mutasa Central should be turned into a greenbelt and it is only people like the Benzas who have the capacity to deliver. Gone are the days of voting people who have nothing because they will tend to loot from the little available resources that are meant to develop constituencies.
Boreholes and roads are now being maintained, yet the outgoing MP did nothing with the Constituency Development Fund he received.
“We should all go and vote early. Those who are unable to read and write should ask for someone they trust to help them and not everyone else as there are crooks out there who will mislead you.
“We know of the MDC-T tricks where some of them will mislead the semi-literate electorate to vote for Tsvangirai by saying if you put your X on him (Tsvangirai) it shows you dislike him.
“We want honest people because last time we failed the party in 2008. If we fail it again, we risk being an island as other areas that would have voted correctly will develop. Zanu-PF is the party for the people and should be supported. Let us vote for development,” said Cde Muchinguri.
Cde Benza said time had come to put the final nail on the MDC coffin by voting resoundingly for Zanu-PF and President Mugabe.
“We are there to work for the people of Mutasa Central. We want to see this area developing. The potential is there. What is needed is to work together and speak with one voice.
“We are not here for electioneering, but to see a changed Mutasa Central. The weather is favourable, while the land is endowed with good soils, which we should utilise to fight hunger,” said Cde Benza.
