ZANU-PF Bulawayo province has passed a vote of no confidence on its secretary for administration Cde Nacisio Makhulumo on a raft of allegations involving among other issues, failure to discharge duty.
The vote of no confidence was passed on Cde Makhulumo during an emergency Provincial Executive Committee at the Zanu-PF Davies Hall provincial offices on Tuesday.
Sources who attended the meeting said the province wrote to Cde Makhulumo and the relevant party structures notifying them of the development on Wednesday.
Zanu-PF provincial chairperson Cde Dennis Ndlovu yesterday said it was too early to comment on the matter as it was yet to be communicated to other organs of the party.
“I don’t think we have a comment now as we are still to communicate with other structures of the party on what we have done. It’s still a process and we will comment when the process is complete,” he said.
However, it has been established that part of the allegations levelled against Cde Makhulumo were centred on a circular received from the Zanu-PF headquarters giving guidelines for a vote of no confidence.
“A meeting of the PEC was held on Tuesday where a number of allegations including dereliction of duty were raised against Cde Makhulumo leading to a resolution to pass a vote of no confidence against him,” said a party official.
Contacted, Cde Makhulumo dismissed the vote of no confidence move as a nullity.
“That’s all hogwash, I will not be accused of dereliction of duty, and I want them to show me who can speak better English than me including the chairman. If he can’t read, he must go back to school. They claim I hid a party circular from the chairman which is not true,” said Cde Makhulumo.
“The circular was received on 20 September and I acted on it, put it in a clip board and left it in the office where all party documents are kept. When we had a meeting on 26 September I found the chairman in possession of that very clip board.”
Cde Makhulumo said he was being targeted by some members because of his work ethic and principles.
“This is an attempt to sideline me, our role is to build the party with honesty and not claim that the province has 112 districts when that is actually not true. I was not at that meeting, I told them I was not feeling well so I’m wondering who set the agenda for that meeting,” he said.
