VP Chiwenga hails ground-breaking ceremony as a step towards energy self-reliance

VICE President Constantino Chiwenga has described the ground-breaking ceremony for the 720MW thermal power plant and 200MW solar project in Hwange as momentous, setting the stage for a self-reliant Zimbabwe.
He praised the event as a testament to President Mnangagwa’s visionary leadership, saying under the Second Republic, the President has championed policies aimed at propelling the economy forward and ensuring equitable development.
“This ground-breaking ceremony reflects the President’s foresight and dedication to ensuring that every Zimbabwean has access to energy,” VP Chiwenga said.
He emphasised the significant role of energy in driving economic growth and improving the lives of the people.
The event signifies a pivotal step towards revitalising Zimbabwe’s energy sector, with a focus on enhancing economic resilience and fostering sustainable development for all citizens.
