Energy sector leaders praise Second Republic’s visionary leadership at Hwange Ground-breaking Ceremony

ENERGY and Power Development Permanent Secretary Dr Gloria Magombo has lauded the transformative vision of President Emmerson Mnangagwa as essential for turning Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income society.
She was speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony for the 720MW thermal power plant and 200MW solar project in Hwange this morning.
The event underscored Hwange’s emergence as an energy hub and the critical role of private sector leadership in the successful implementation of the energy sector.
She acknowledged the challenges in the power sector, noting that comprehensive measures are being taken to address the situation exacerbated by climate change. “The ministry is working on climate change hybridization measures,” she said, emphasising the proactive approach being adopted.

She further underscored the necessity of capacitating Zesa Holdings to ensure reliable electricity delivery, stressing that timely payment of bills is crucial.
Dr Magombo expressed gratitude to Zesa for its resilience and commitment to ensuring access to electricity for all Zimbabweans.
