VICE President Constantino Chiwenga attended today’s memorial service of the late Cde Peter Matopi, his brother-in-law.

The memorial service was held at Matopi homestead in Chegore Village, Ward 11 under Mutare District.

Speaker after speaker described the late Cde Matopi, who died last year, as a God fearing family man who lived in peace with neighbours and workmates.

A decorated soldier, Cde Matopi fought in the war of liberation before joining the Zimbabwe National Army after independence.

He was a recipient of the Zimbabwe Campaign Medal after participating in the peacekeeping efforts in neighbouring Mozambique during the years of civil strife in that country.

Cde Matopi went on to partake in the DRC war when Zimbabwe sent troops in support of the Government of that country.
