VICE PRESIDENT Kembo Mohadi, this Wednesday, convened a high-level meeting with ministers and deputy ministers from the social services cluster, which falls under his purview.

The meeting was held at Munhumutapa Building in Harare. Those who make up the cluster are the Ministries of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training; National Housing and Social Amenities: Information, Communication, Technology, Postal and Courier Services; Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage; Local Government and Public Works; Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology; Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare; and Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development.

In his address, VP Mohadi said, “As we gather here today, I want to extend a warm welcome to you all, Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, and representatives from various Agencies within the social sector cluster and cross-cutting ministries.

“We last met during the first quarter of 2024 and we were supposed to meet every quarter, thereafter. Unfortunately, this has not been possible due to circumstances beyond our control. We hope our sector meetings will be more frequent going forward.”

He said their meeting comes hard on the heels of the 2026 Performance Contracts Signing and 2025 Performance awards ceremony conducted March 16 2026, and presided over by President Mnangagwa, where outstanding contributions to the Nations’ Vision were recognised.

“They really showcased how individual and collective efforts can contribute to broader social sector objectives while at the same time, underscoring the Government’s focus on improving Social and Economic Services outcomes,” he said.

“His Excellency, the President, urged us all to recommit ourselves fully to the transformation of the livelihoods of all Zimbabweans.

“As we convene today, I want to highlight from the onset that we have just concluded the National Development Strategy (NDS)1 and are transitioning into NDS2, which is the final leg toward the attainment of Vision 2030.

“The Social Services Sector is therefore crucial for any Nation’s progress, hence we should align our priorities and goals for the year 2026 going forward. We should therefore work together as a formidable team towards the accelerated attainment of our National Vision.”
