VP Mujuru to launch NYG

Commission, in partnership with the province’s leadership and the local organising committee for the Zimbabwe National Youth Games, are hosting the provincial general managers assembly on the preparedness to host the games and develop and agree on the road map leading to the August Games.
A tour of the proposed sports competition and accommodation venues will also be conducted to assess if there are any renovations required prior to the Games.
The launch will also induct provinces into the key games implementation documents including the games regulations, games technical rules, dispute resolution and games accreditation procedures.
Chief executive of the 10th Youth Games in Mashonaland Central, Stan Kasukuwere revealed that the official launch would also mark the start of the countdown to the competition.
Kasukuwere said his province felt honoured to stage the 10th edition of the Games and are determined to make a difference from the previous competitions, some of which were littered with logistical and other problems.
The former Dynamos vice-chairman also said they had roped in one of the sporting icons to emerge from the province – athletics legend Artwell Mandaza.
“This is the 10th edition and it is marking a decade of sporting excellence by the youth of Zimbabwe .
“We feel privileged to stage the Games and we want to make the Mashonaland Central Games, a Games with a difference that will long be remembered in the history of sport in this country. That is why some of the sporting icons to emerge from the province like Artwell Mandaza, whose long history with athletics excellence is there for everyone to see, will involved,” Kasukuwere said.
The businessman and farmer also noted the great role played by the Youth Games.
“Over the years the National Youth Games have provided a platform for young talent to express themselves and we believe that this year’s edition will produce more talent that will go on to shine for the various national teams,” Kasukuwere said.
