War vets hold golf fundraising tournament

PEOPLE from all walks of life converged on Harry Allen Golf Club for the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association Bulawayo Province Golf Fundraising Tournament.

This tournament by the freedom fighters saw stakeholders come in to raise funds for a building that is currently under construction at Entumbane.

Christopher Sibanda, a member of the Zimbabwe War Veterans Association as well as the information and publicity secretary in Bulawayo province expressed his gratitude to the business community as well as members of the public for supporting this initiative.

“We thought it was wise for us to hold this tournament in order to raise funds that will be used to buy what we need for our offices at Entumbane. The need came after we realised that every time when we hold our meetings the turnout in overwhelming.

“This resulted in us moving around asking people to offer us their tents for use during our meetings.

“Therefore we thought it was wise to build a revolutionary hall where you will find all information pertaining to our activities as war veterans, be it the struggle among other pertinent issues to do with our activities,’’ Sibanda said. 

Some of the high profile dignitaries who took their time to come for teeing-off are former Minister of Health David Parirenyatwa. 

From the business community Ingwebu Breweries used the occasion to launch their new Royal Mahewu brand plus donate $10 000.

Various organisation donated in cash, building materials as well as in kind towards the association to make this event a success. Minister of State for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Judith Ncube was the guest of honour at the awards ceremony held last night.   @mandlamoyo3
