The star-studded Bulawayo outfit will take on Harare giants in the final of the National Rugby League at Harare Sports Club in a match that has been dubbed “The Battle between the North and the South.”
Players from both teams expressed their desire to win the domestic rugby’s biggest trophy.
“The road to the final has not been easy for us and we have fought hard to be where we are. Everyone is looking forward to the final and with the right attitude we are going to win.
“As Matabeleland Warriors we always strive on teamwork and we are going to attack and defend as a team against Harare Sports Club,” said Tshamala.
Tshamala’s try and penalty goal in the semi-finals against Old Georgians propelled Matabeleland Warriors to a narrow 18-17 victory to set a final berth with Harare Sports Club who dismissed Old Hararians 25-6.
Machanjaire has in some matches captained the star-studded Bulawayo club.
“It has been an honour to lead a team of great players. I don’t think ours is a star-studded outfit but rather a team made up of dedicated and hardworking players who are driven by the desire to win.
“Bulawayo has always been known as the hub of domestic rugby and we want to prove that we are not sleeping giants. We are going to fight hard to ensure that we bring the trophy home but it will not be easy.
“It is every player’s dream to win the league and as a youngster, I want to lay my hands on that trophy,” Machanjaire said.
Matabeleland Warriors will also bank on Ozy Lynx, Tapiwa “Endo” Mangezi, player-coach Rueben Kumpasa, Jafet Ndebele and Mike Zvakavapano.
Kumpasa was expected to name his final team last night.
