WASTE management company, Zimbabwe Sunshine Group, has embarked on a unique mission to convert waste into valuables.

Speaking to H-Metro, the company’s marketing officer, Mitchelle Nhapi, said the process of recycling waste is economically viable.

“All residual and waste materials have their own unique functionalities, which must be retained as best as possible in the recycling process.

“It is our duty as a nation to collect waste that could be otherwise thrown away.

“This ensures that we protect the ecosystem and reduce climate change,” she said.

Nhapi said now is the time to invest in waste management.

“We collect waste from people around the city, including pet bottles and plastic.

“The waste is later granulated into flex.

“The cycle goes on without having to burn bottles and causing air pollution.

“We are also into organic manure, fertilisers and bio-charcoal.”

She said they now do house calls to collect waste.

Nhapi said once bottles and plastics have been recycled, they become new.

“We also collect plastic, but they are not environmentally friendly, hence we do not encourage the use of plastics.”

Nhapi said the organisation has a facility in Budiriro that collects waste.

“We recently donated sewing machines to the community.

“This allows us to empower people to work for themselves.”
