ARIEL Sibanda, the Highlanders captain, has invited club benefactor Wicknell Chivayo to grace one of the club’s home matches.
Sibanda made the request during a brief press conference, where Jabulani Nkomo—responsible for managing the disbursement of the US$1 million donated by the philanthropist—confirmed the release of the first US$57,000 from the US$250,000 provided by Chivayo.
The US$57 000 was used to pay the club’s players and technical team their signing-on fees and other outstanding dues from 2024.
Speaking on behalf of the players, the Highlanders captain said they were grateful for what Chivayo had done for the club and added that it was a big motivation and wished that someday the businessman would come to Barbourfields to watch the boys.
“We got the winning bonuses. We would like to thank Sir Wicknell, the boys are motivated, some day we will be happy to have you come to Barbourfierlds and watch the boys, a big thank you, may God replenish more where you took from,” said the soft-spoken former Goalkeeper of the Year.
