A high-powered delegation of over 30 top business leaders from Romania and Hungary has arrived at the Victoria Falls International Airport, marking a significant vote of confidence in Zimbabwe’s economic potential and engagement drive.
The visit which was facilitated by Zimbabwe’s Embassy in Berlin aims to explore concrete business opportunities, strengthen bilateral economic ties, and showcase the country as a premier destination for investment and tourism.

Led by Mr Vornic Sorin, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Romania, the group was welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Tongai Mnangagwa.
In an interview, Mr Sorin said the delegation’s mission is one of reconnection and tangible progress.

“We came with a strong delegation that wants to discover your country. We want to rekindle the cooperation between our two economies and start commercial connections,” he said.
He emphasised that the delegation comprised representatives of major Romanian companies.
He credited Zimbabwe’s diplomatic outreach in Europe for the venture, saying the Embassy in Berlin had highlighted numerous win-win opportunities.
“We want to do facts, not just talk. We live in reality, not in dreams,” Mr Sorin said.
His sentiment was echoed by another delegate Ms Irina Moresan from the technology sector, who expressed a desire to learn about Zimbabwe’s culture and explore digital business opportunities.
For Zimbabwe, the arrival signifies validation of its engagement policy.
Deputy Minister Mnangagwa described it as a direct result of the Second Republic’s efforts under President Mnangagwa.
“When such groups come, we facilitate their seamless entry. They go back and become ambassadors for Zimbabwe,” he said.
He revealed promising prospects, noting the delegation had promised more business missions to explore sectors like mining, agriculture, and manufacturing.
“This big group is showing the fruits of the work of the Second Republic,” he said.
The delegation’s itinerary includes tours of Victoria Falls, business-to-business meetings, and assessments of opportunities in key sectors.
