Watch: ‘Light of Infinity’: New Miss Universe crown shines with South Sea pearls

As the 73rd Miss Universe pageant approaches, excitement is building with the unveiling of this year’s crown, set to be delivered by the reigning Miss Universe, Sheyniss Palacios.

For the first time, the crown used in the pageant was crafted in the Philippines. Named “Lumière de l’Infini” (Light of Infinity), the crown was created by Filipino artisans using rare South Sea pearls harvested from the coasts of Palawan. This breathtaking masterpiece, unveiled on Wednesday at an event in Mexico City—where the pageant is taking place—marks the first collaboration between the Miss Universe organisation and the renowned Philippine jeweler Jewelmer.

Handcrafted through traditional techniques, the crown showcases a rare golden pearl, the national gem of the Philippines, along with 23 other golden pearls that symbolise beauty across the ocean. Jewelmer’s intricate design has already garnered admiration from prominent figures, including Miss Universe President Raul Rocha and Anne Jakrajutatip, Executive Director and founder of JKN Global Group, the pageant’s parent company.

Rocha expressed his enthusiasm, calling it “the most beautiful crown in Miss Universe history” and noting how its elements reflect the pageant’s legacy.

This stunning new crown becomes the 13th in Miss Universe history, marking a milestone that no other major pageant has achieved. In comparison, the Miss World competition has used its current crown since 1972, underscoring Miss Universe’s tradition of innovation in its iconic symbols.
