MIMOSA MINE is celebrating a century of existence, and what better way to mark the occasion than by hosting the prestigious 2025 Chamber of Mines Golf Championships which tees off today.

The tournament carries a special weight this year, as it coincides with the mine’s centenary celebration, a milestone that reflects its enduring legacy since being founded by the Granger brothers.

The annual Chamber of Mines event is a highlight on the mining calendar, with the winning team from the previous year earning the coveted right to host.

It’s more than just a competition; it’s a vital gathering for senior managers and key stakeholders from across the industry, fostering networking and deal-making.

Mimosa Mine General Manager, Stephen Ndiyamba, shared his team’s excitement about bringing the event to Bulawayo.

“We are hosting the tournament in Bulawayo tomorrow (today) and Sunday at Bulawayo Country Club.

“The Chamber of Mines event is held annually, and the winning team earns the right to host the next edition. Last year, we won in Mutare and chose Bulawayo as this year’s venue,” Ndiyamba said.

A field of 188 players, including mine managers and industry stakeholders, is expected to tee off today. Ndiyamba was quick to praise the impeccable preparation of both the Mimosa organising team and the host club.

“Good work has been done in terms of preparations. The Chamber of Mines Golf Tournament is a platform for networking and deal-making among industry players. We’re looking forward to a successful event,” he said.

Among the top contenders vying for the coveted title and the hosting rights for next year are some of the biggest names in Zimbabwean mining: Hwange Colliery, Mimosa, How Mine, Casmyn, Fredda Rebecca, Shamva, Unki, and Zimplats. The teams are already sizing up the competition.

Tafadzwa Denha, representing Fredda Rebecca Mine, expressed his team’s confidence after a familiarisation round.

“The team is ready, the team is set,” Denha declared.
