WATCH: Mpopoma railway vehicle debris removed

HOURS after a vehicle plunged metres from a bridge and landed on a National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) railway track in Mpopoma authorities have removed the vehicle debris in the aftermath of the accident.

The dramatic road traffic incident occurred in Mpopoma in Bulawayo on Saturday night just after 8pm when the driver of the vehicle reportedly lost control and plunged the car onto a railway track.

The incident sparked shock among residents and passers-by.

Zimpapers arrived at the scene moments after the accident occurred. At the time of the incident details about how the vehicle landed on the tracks were still unclear.

No driver or passengers were found inside at the time of observation of the accident last night

NRZ authorities and Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele were on Sunday not available for a comment to shed more light on the accident.

 

A Zimpapers news crew, however, observed broken vehicle glasses, wheel caps and pieces of broken headlights strew around the crash sites.

A trail of damaged trees and flattened grass from the top of the bridge leading to the crash site where the vehicle landed was also observed.
